I read Brad Thompson’s letter (last week’s Courier) which had a lot of healthy tongue in cheek references. I am not an outside fisherman nor a marine biologist.
His idea does sound good though it is late in the day to be suggesting it with council being the responsible entity for whatever works that will happen.
Often with any level of government there is consultation with the public........ followed by layers of discussion about cost & analysis of benefits.... more consultation.... then finally action. Just look at the saga of upgrading Ocean Drive and the rejection of a much needed roundabout at Sirius Drive.
It beggars belief with the increasing population of Lakewood happening at an exponential rate just within the gated village there.
Perhaps his idea has already been considered or maybe the deconstructed bridge is heading to make up part of the approved 400m Seawall for Lake Cathie (Ref: Courier Article Nov16th,2016).
His letter is asking the question of Mrs. Williams MLA................Instead should it be asked of the mayor, as it is the council who will be disposing of the old bridge. Could the Courier ask the question of the mayor for next week's edition? :"What is happening to the old bridge?"
Then follow up with Brad's suggestion. I'm sure that our mayor has seen the letter by now.
