Organisers of the inaugural Christopher Malcolm Baker Memorial Golf Day said the event was a resounding success. Proceeds from the golf day will benefit Scleroderma Australia to the tune of over $2,000.

“Scleroderma Australia rely solely on volunteers with no paid staff at all, and every cent raised goes towards research into finding a cure,” said Christine Baker.
Christopher Baker was a well-known, community-minded local businessman who fought Scleroderma for many years. Chris passed away from Leukemia brought on by chemotherapy drugs, to treat his scleroderma, in April 2015.
Scleroderma is an auto-immune condition, meaning the immune system attacks healthy tissue. It involves overproduction of collagen in connective tissue. This results in hardening of the skin. [www.healthdirect.gov.au]
Several local business supported the day via sponsorship and prizes. Organisers hope next year’s event will be just as successful.
