The wet weather has hampered the Eagles training, but they are more than eager and capable of taking out the competition this year.
The Mighty Camden Haven Eagles ventured south to the home of Taree Red Rovers and it was set to be a hard match, as the Rovers were grand finalists last year and are always strong.
At half time the Rovers only led 6 to 4, which may of made them a wee bit nervous as the Eagles were well and truly holding their own and giving it to them.
Second half and the Eagles were determined, and crossed the line three more times and converted twice almost matching the Rovers four tries and three conversions.
Tries went to Jae Bell, Mason Hannington, Jayden Hoffman, and Lachlan Pye, with Jayden Hoffman and Blair Scott competing the conversions.
Final Score 28 to 20 Taree Red Rovers way, but the Eagles are set for bigger and better things.
There was some great defence out on the paddock with Jae Bell, Mason Hannington, Jayden Hoffman, Aaron Coulter, Jy Garvey, Jake Paterson, Brady Blackhall, Blair Scott and Rhys Hanlon, Jaspa Calicetto working had to stop the Rovers Crossing the line. Jae Bell, Aaron Coulter, Brady Blackhall, Blair Scott, Rhys Hanlon and Jed Mellis took on the Rovers hard and strong and ran the ball up hard not once backing down.
Some awards were handed out at the end of the match and these could of gone to anyone as the Eagles are such a great team.
Man of the match went to Rhys Hanlon, closely followed by Jae Bell and Jy Garvey.
Thank you to all the parents, family and friends that came and supported the Eagles down at Taree, as you can see there is some huge amount of talent amongst those boys and some have been playing together since Under 6’s for the Eagles.
UNDER 6
After a hard, long few months of training being cancelled because of the rain, the Eagles U’6s really showed their coaches how quick they are learning on the go. All gave 100% with a combined team effort of 10 tries scored in their first game.
Scoring a try each were Alyssa (1), Stella (1), Alani (3), Bray (1) Louie (1) and Evander (3). The team also displayed strong defence. It came down to a hard decision between two for the player of the week, but coaches could not look past Sonny Morales with his hard tackling and unfailing effort, chasing players right to the try line.
