That landscape was full of interesting plants and animals in a biodiverse environment.
Personally, I find bare grass, with its usual accompaniment of weeds, desolate and uninspiring. There are plenty of places to find vast ocean, lake and river views in the district without denuding more hillsides to get them.
What I have noticed when driving up that road is a large sign erected by the council explaining that someone has been hacking down the native vegetation and that the sign will not be removed until it grows back. Well done council!
You see this problem on Sydney's headlands and harbourside, as well as other places, where residents poison lovely trees to maximise their views. This spoils the amenity for others who might enjoy the beauty and shade of the trees. It also deprives birds and other creatures of a home and leaves a barren, ugly and lifeless landscape.
Please try to enjoy the filtered water views and, if possible, the exercise of a short walk to where more extensive views are accessible, which would be very beneficial to the health.
Those with immobility issues can be driven to many other sites, including the lookout on the southern side of Kattang, with its lovely view over South Beach and the mountains.
