We have more females 8580 or 51.3% than males, 8160 or 48.7%.
Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander people make up 3.1% of the population.
The median age is 55 years.
According to the Census figures released on Wednesday, our area boasts 4807 families with 8194 private dwellings registered in the week prior to Census night.
The average people per household is 2.2 and the median weekly household income is $910; the median monthly mortgage repayments is $1519 and the median weekly rent is $300.
The average motor vehicles per dwellings is 1.7.
In age demographics, the Camden Haven region’s highest category is in the 65 to 69 age bracket with 1712 or 10.2% compared to a state figure of 384,470 or 5.1% while the national figures are 1,188,999 or 5.1%
The 20 to 24 years and 25 to 29 years age bracket was the lowest at 2.8% each.
Coincidentally, 8386 residents were aged 55 years to 85 years and over or just about half our population.
And we like being married.
There were 7881 people or 54.8% who registered their marital status as married, while 527 or 3.7% were listed as separated. There were 1624 (11.3%) who registered as divorced with 1236 (8.6%) recorded as widowed.
There were 21.6% or 3104 people who had never married.
In the education sector, there were 24.5% of the population attending an educational institution, of these 26.6% were in primary school, 24.5% in secondary school and 12.0% in a tertiary or technical institution.
Our cultural and language diversity is higher than the state and national figures, according to the figures.
There were 7731 (34.1%) of people registered as English in the region compared to 2302,481 (23.3%) in NSW and 7,852,224 (25%) at the national level.
A further 7294 (32.2%) identified as Australian, compared to 2261,062 (22.9%) at state level and 7,298,243 (23.3%) across Australia.
Some 2109 or 9.3% identified as Irish, 1920 or 8.5% as Scottish and 620 or 2.7% as German, according to the data.
13,786 or 82.4% reported Australia as their country of birth, while 699 (4.2%) listed England, 186 (1.1%) New Zealand, 97 (0.6%) Scottish, 75 (0.4%) Germany and 71 (0.4%) the Netherlands as their country of birth.
Our religious affiliation showed that 4782 or 28.6% registered as Anglicans, 4247 or 25.4% as no religious as described; 21.3% or 3568 as Catholic, 1402 or 8.4% as not stated and 921 or 5.5% as Uniting Church.
In the Laurieton and Bonny Hills area, 92.4% of us only spoke English at home – that’s some 15,462 of the population.
In unpaid work, we don’t appear to mind volunteering either.
Of the respondents aged 15 years and over, 69.3% did unpaid domestic work in the week before the Census and during the two weeks prior to Census, 21.6% provided care for children and 13.5% assisted family members or others due to a disability, long term illness or problems related to old age.
According to the data, 3056 or 21.3% did voluntary work through an organisation or group in the last 12 months.
