Sean Minns sliced the Boardies defence right open and sprinted across the try line six times. Captain Beau Kettle barged over the try line four times. Chris Hanlon and Jahbe Latham both scored two a piece. Blayne Lambert-Bignell, Jacob Cook and Joel Wilkes added a try each. Alex Pearce was kicking the ball from all sides of the field and managed to convert nine tries, and Joel Wilkes converting one himself. The final score was Kendall Blues 88 and Lake Cathie Boardies 0.
Assistant coach Dustin Prosser is extremely pleased with the Kendall Blues.
“The Blues are just getting better and stronger each game,” he said.
“With the finals fast approaching the Blues are heading in the direction Beau and I were hoping for.
“They have impressed us immensely.
“Great effort also by the Boardies by giving the Blues everything they had for the full 80 minutes.”
The match was marred by a serious injury to Daniel Minns, who took an extremely heavy knock late in a tackle and was later admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at Port Macquarie Base Hospital. The Kendall Blues family wish Minnsy a swift recovery.
Congratulations to Joel Wilkes who played his 50th game for the Kendall Blues and Anthony Conlan for players’ player.
The Kendall Blues would like to thank their hard working ballboys. They are there every home game in rain, hail, shine or fog. They include Blair Scott, Rhys Hanlon, Tom Boyd, Gus Greaves and Nayte Morales.
Round 10 of the Hastings League Points table are as follows, Kendall Blues remain on top on 18 (taking into consideration points for and against) closely followed by Comboyne tigers with 18, Lower Macleay 12, Laurieton 10, Long Flat 10, Beechwood 8, South West Rocks 2 and Boardriders 2.
The Kendall Blues Charity day is on Saturday, July 29.
It will be a fun filled day and begin with a showcase of Local Junior Rugby League players.
The double header will start with Laurieton Stingrays verse Comboyne Tigers. The main game will be Kendall Blues verses the Long Flat Dragons.
Entertainment at the field will be supplied by the Party Professionals.
The players’ jerseys will be auctioned at the Kendall Services and Citizens Club along with other fine offerings.
All proceeds going to our local charities close to our hearts including Ben Fletcher Multiple Sclerosis fund, Jess Higgins Breast Cancer family holiday fund and Give 5 for kids.
