The association recently received a $10,800 grant from Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation which allowed them to cement their position at the Kendall Showground.
The RDA’s volunteers work with people who have disabilities through riding therapy, sport, recreation, training and safety programs.
RDA Kendall President, Elizabeth Wallace said the foundation’s support made the relocation possible.
“We’re so grateful for the support that Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation has provided throughout the years,” she said.
“We rely on the generosity of our community to cover the club’s operational and maintenance costs, which allow us to focus on providing liberating and uplifting experiences to people with disabilities.”
The foundation funded the original purchase and construction of the shed in 2010 and supported the relocation to ensure the club’s sustainability.
“RDA Kendall provides so many moments of joy for people living with disabilities,” Acting Chairman David Shanley said.
“We’re proud that as a member of the local community we can help volunteers continue to deliver its programs to those who need a little more support to enjoy the therapeutic and recreational benefits of horse riding,”
The grant allowed RDA Kendall to build a new slab for the double-front shed.
The structure was disassembled and rebuilt to house the club’s equipment, including their horse float and mowers, to run the disability programs from the new location.
