The Breakwall Brawlers have had one win and one loss so far this season.
They don’t know what to expect from Tweed Valley this weekend as it will be the first time the two teams have met.
But captain Courtney Davies is hopeful of seeing a strong home crowd.
The Brawlers have been competitive in their matches so far this season, registering a win against Coffs Harbour and a loss to Maitland.
Davies said most of the girls took up the sport because of a variety of reasons.
“I couldn’t skate when I first started, so there was a sense of achievement from making the team,” she said.
She said she saw her first game locally a couple of years ago and ever since that match she became addicted to the physicality of the sport.
“I’ve been skating for four years and been in the team for the last year and a half,” she said.
“I went and watched a game and there was something about it which was addictive – I enjoyed the physicality.
“It offers women a sport that most other sports don’t have because it offers a bit of aggression.”
Davies described the sport as similar to how school children used to spend their lunch times.
“It’s kind of like a running race – similar to red rover, cross over that you played in primary school, but more physical,” she said.
First whistle on August 19 is at 4pm and the game goes for one hour.
