Jeremy Robinson, Ben Makin and Lochie Swan have been chosen as part of the Southern team, and will join forces with players from other local Clubs, as the Football Mid North Coast contingent looks set to showcase the local talent.
The team is a combination of the nine Premier League Clubs within the Football Mid North Coast region, with the Redbacks garnering one of the largest representations, with three players making the cut.
For Swan, Makin and Robinson, the chance is a once in a lifetime opportunity to compete against professionals, with the boys all excited for the chance to see how they'll fare.
The opportunity has required the men to step up their training commitments, with players required to train an additional day each week in the lead up to the match, on top of the twice a week Premier League training, and the weekly Premier League match.
The extra workload hasn't bothered the men though, with each of the Redbacks stalwarts just honoured to have been selected.
The highly anticipated match will be the final event for the Jets Tour on the Mid North Coast, with a sold-out Coaching Clinic set for Monday, and the Newcastle Jets Sports Breakfast scheduled for Tuesday at Westport Club.
Football Mid North Coast chairman Mike Parsons has labelled the Newcastle Jets upcoming visit to the area as a ‘momentous occasion’ for football.
“The logic is to give as many (local) players as we can the opportunity where they will be fresh so they will be able to give the Jets a reasonable test for their preparations for the A-League,” he said.
Parsons said FMNC saw the visit as an investment for their stakeholders.
“We believe it’s investing in our football community by having these school clinics and these school visits,” he said.
Tickets for the breakfast are still available, with the event starting at 7am.
The match between Football Mid North Coast and the Newcastle Jets is at the Regional Stadium in Port Macquarie on Tuesday, August 15. Kickoff is at 7pm. Tickets cost $5 at the gate and children under 18 are free.
