Camden Haven High School student Tom Lewis breaks regional, zone and school carnival records

Camden Haven High School student Tom Lewis currently holds the record for the 1500 metre running event in his age group at regional, zone and school carnivals. 

Tom recently broke the regional record while competing at the North Coast Regional Athletics Carnival in Lismore. 

Tom is in Year 11 and finished in first place in the 17 years age group 1500 metre running event. He broke the previous record by four seconds.  

Tom also competed at the Lower North Coast Zone Carnival at Scotts Head in June. For the 1500 metre distance Tom smashed the old zone record by a margin of 18 seconds. 

At the Camden Haven High School Carnival in May Tom beat the 1500 metre record by a margin of 13 seconds. 

Tom currently holds four regional records, six zone records and 10 school records over distances ranging from 400 metres to 3000 metres. 

Tom's next event will be at the NSW State Athletics Championships at Homebush, Sydney in September where he will attempt to regain his state 1500 metre title.
