According to the dictionary a ghetto is ‘a part of a city in which members of a minority group live, typically as a result of social, legal or economic pressure’. Therefore, it would probably be wrong to use the word ghetto to describe some of the new Legoland high density residential development that is fast becoming the norm in and around The Camden Haven.

My thoughts go out to all those people who have lived in this picturesque community for many years who continue to struggle with just how rapidly the place is changing. It’s hard enough for those who have arrived more recently.
Growth is inevitable. And I guess greed is also something that will always be with us but every week this paper is littered with articles and letters about reckless planning, over-development and forest denudation. Who doesn’t get it? PMHC sure doesn’t.
Opportunism, combined with some poor decisions made a number of years ago have contributed to the eyesores we have today. This does not absolve council from its ongoing and primary obligation - to do whatever is necessary to leave at least something, somewhere for future generations to enjoy.
