The Oasis frontman told GQ Australia he will perform at Falls Festival in December.
"We're gonna be there for New Year's Eve," he said. "I can't wait, man – love it. It's beautiful.
"I'm bringing my two boys out as well, they're at the age now where they can come and travel."
When Gallagher toured Australia in the 1990s, he made headlines after he allegedly headbutted a British backpacker. On the flight to Australia, he also courted controversy by allegedly abusing his fellow passengers as well as crew members.
In the GQ interview, Gallagher let slip he has a close friend who lives in Wagga Wagga, a regional city in southern New South Wales.
"It's like the New York of Australia," he joked. "Every time I've been out there, it's been cool."
The musician also said his children were obsessed with the Australian cartoon series The Big Lez Show.
Gallagher is currently touring the United States. His Falls Festival performance will occur two months after the release of his debut solo album – As You Were – which is due out on October 6.
The remaining Falls Festival lineup will be revealed on Tuesday.
