“With the demolition of the old bridge, removal of the temporary bridge, asphalt surfacing, new road approaches and line marking now complete,” he said.
Mr Doig said work to remove the old southern road approach is moving into its final stages.
“Minor work to paths, landscaping, removal of the site office and remediation of compound areas is expected to be completed in the coming weeks, weather permitting,” he said.
“Council thanks local residents for their patience and understanding during the delivery of this significant community asset.”
In 1961 a new steel and concrete structure which replaced the 30-year-old Humpty Back wooden bridge opened to the public. The bridge spans Stingray Creek between Laurieton and North Haven.
The new 2017 bridge is on the same area as the old "humpty-back".
The 190 metre long Stingray Creek Bridge opened for a community walk over on December 10.
