Superintendent Kam Baker is appealing to the community to be vigilant, “with such dry conditions across the Mid Coast any fires have the potential to threaten life and property.”
“We’re asking people to keep their eyes out for arson and report all suspicious activity to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000”
Fire Danger Ratings for the Mid Coast have dropped back to Low-Moderate, however the landscape remains very dry with permits remaining suspended. Superintendent Baker explained,
“We would be needing approximately 100-120mm of rain just to get us back to where we normally are at this time of year, so while any rain this week will help, it’s not going to eliminate the risk.
That’s why permits remain suspended until further notice”.
Permits in the Mid Coast & Port Macquarie Hastings Local Government Areas have been suspended until further notice.
