Becoming a Girl Guide Leader is the perfect way to give a little back to the community, spokesperson Kim Woodhouse said.
“We have a really big focus on self-development and helping people in their careers and home life and it’s a way to get outside and be active,” Mrs Woodhouse said.
“Being a Girl Guide Leader is particularly good experience for university or TAFE students who are studying early childhood or teaching.
“You don’t have to have been a Girl Guide or have any knowledge about Guides as there is a comprehensive training program that covers everything from first aid to leadership and there is no age limit, only being over 18yrs old.”
Camden Haven Girl Guides have girls within the units from all over the area.
Girls come from Lake Cathie, Bonny Hills, Kendall, Kew, Johns River and Moorlands to enjoy the offerings of Girl Guides. There are two units – Junior Guides for girls aged 5 years to 9 years meet Tuesday 4pm until 5.30pm. The older Guides, 10 years to 14 years meet Thursday nights from 6pm until 8pm. Both units meet at the Laurieton Scout Hall, Tunis Street, Laurieton.
“We currently have vacancies for Leaders in our Junior Guide Unit.
“We have 12 girls who desperately need two women who will join us in providing leadership to these enthusiastic girls and those that will follow, who are willing to become volunteer Leaders, committed to the national organisation’s mission statement: to enable girls and young women to grow into confident, self-respecting, responsible community members.”
