THE morning began with a rumble indicating the first warnings to Mid North Coast residents of a potentially unstable day ahead.

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued warnings of possible severe thunderstorms, merging into super cells, across New South Wales on Thursday, October 26.

The Mid North Coast is in the zone for possible severe thunderstorms which could bring with it heavy rain and hail by Thursday afternoon.

Temperatures are expected to reach up to 33 degrees in some parts of the Hastings while there is a damaging wind warning in place for the Macquarie coast.

Winds will be from the north to northwest at 20 to 25 km/h shifting south to southeasterly 15 to 20 km/h in the early afternoon..

Port Macquarie lifeguards have encouraged swimmers to stay out of the water during storm and lightning activity.
