Remarkably, many locals have never set foot on the grounds of Bundaleer, and that will change with the first annual Family Fun Day.
It was originally planned for March this year, as a day for the community to let loose and relax after what had been a really tough few months with the Pappinbarra fires.
But Mother Nature had other plans and they were forced to cancel the day, due to the widespread flooding that followed the fires.
But now that the cold of winter is behind us, (and the grounds of Bundaleer have finally recovered) it’s time for Family Fun Day mark two, bigger and better than the original – and the whole community are all invited to a free day of fun for the whole family.
Enjoy jumping castles, sumo wrestling, a mechanical bull, bungee run, balloon artists, Velcro wall, giant slide, animal farm, pony rides, face painting, tattoo artists, chocolate wheel and more free of charge.
Guests will be asked to put their hands in their pocket at the Lions Club BBQ, at the Sweets and Treats café, and to participate in the raffles.
Prizes donated from local companies including Wauchope Country Club, Billabong Zoo, Harvey Norman, Bunnings, Cassegrain winery.
And there will be guessing competitions for party snacks including popcorn, fairy floss and slushies.
There will also be market stalls to browse and shop for Christmas.
It is promising to be a great day out and even Mayor Peta Pinson will be joining in the fun. All funds raised (from the Lions Club and raffles etc) will kickstart the Bundaleer fundraising campaign.
Thanks to a generous $8.5 million Federal Government grant, Bundaleer is in the development stage of building two exciting new state-of-the-art aged care facilities in Wauchope.
In addition to this funding, they also need to raise an additional $850,000 themselves to complete the project to furnish the new 140-bed facility on Johnstone Street.
The fun starts at 10am on Sunday at 142a Cameron Street and runs until 4pm, and Bundaleer are looking forward to a fabulous day.
