The project was supervised by agriculture teacher Steve Shilling and he said the aim of the project was to beautify the retaining walls which adjoin the school’s cattle yards.
The project was made possible as a result of a generous donation of plants and plant guards through the Schools to Schools project and council support with traffic management.
Mr Shilling said the students planted 108 Syzigium ‘Tiny Trev’ and a similar number of Acmena ‘Allir Magic’.
They were then watered, received protection with the implementation of tree guards and mulch to retain soil moisture and restrict weed growth.
Mr Shilling said the students worked tirelessly despite the heat and were a credit to the school.
Port Macquarie-Hastings Council mayor Peta Pinson and Camden Haven High School principal Margaret Hutchinson attended the event.
Mrs Hutchinson said the planting day was a wonderful opportunity for students, community members and council to work together.
“To beautify not only the school but also to enhance and promote the worthy Schools to Schools Project,” she said.
Mrs Hutchinson also thanked Camden Haven High School assistants Mr Bradney and Mr Martin.
