“Out of all the world’s constellations we have the best in Australia, and the show is only about to start,” said local astronomer Dave Reneke writer and publicist for Australasian Science magazine.
“If you’ve got a telescope or binoculars that’s a good start. Out of all the objects in the night sky, the moon is the easiest to find and with today’s smartphones, almost anyone can become an astro-photographer,” Dave said
The Mid North Coast Astronomy Group founded by Dave are putting on a free viewing night on Saturday November 25 for all residents of the Hastings. They will have large telescopes set up showing the stars, planets and nebula but the prime focus will be on the Moon.
Bring your phone cameras to to Sancrox Reserve, Colvin St Sancrox around sundown and they’ll show you how easy it is to take your very own photograph of the moon and the stars through a professional grade telescope.
Dave will give a free, laser-guided sky tour afterwards. Ring Dave on 0400 636 363 or just turn up on the night.
