The Blessing of the Angels memorial service will be held at St Thomas’ Anglican Church with the support of Port Macquarie Base Hospital chaplain Leanne Smith from 11.30am.
The service is specifically for parents and other family members who have experienced the loss of a baby and wish to pay tribute to their child.
The annual service is open to anyone who has lost a baby through miscarriage, birth or shortly after birth.
As a part of the ceremony, parents are encouraged to bring a present in memory of their child.
The memorial service is a tangible way for families to remember their child, the gifts are donated to the Salvation Army’s Christmas Appeal.
The angel’s names are called during the service and each family light a candle in their child’s name.
After the service, the names of the babies that have passed away in the last year (or new to the memorial service) are embroidered on to a memorial banner.
