Club North Haven staff were approached by Neil Hosick with a club grant submission for a rescue training mannequin which was accepted.
The LifeTec Rescue Training Mannequin has arrived at the Camden Haven Surf Life Saving Club.
“While practicing with a patient that is pretending to be unconscious is good, practicing with a rescue mannequin that can simulate the lifeless dead weight of an unconscious patient is better,” vice president Ben Hosick said.
“And at Camden Haven SLSC we are all ways trying to do better.”
The mannequin is 183cm tall and weighs 40kg when dry. Once the mannequin is placed in the water it soaks up water to becomes 80kgs.
The mannequin has foam flotation pads that can be placed in different pockets so it will float in different positions in different conditions.
Funds from the Club North Haven Dun Day on November 5 went to the Camden Haven SLSC
“The club really appreciated the opportunity to help out on the day and for the generous donation,” Mr Hosick said.
The Camden Haven SLSC executive committee invited Club North Haven chairman Gary McLoughlin to join CHSLSC life member John Vipond and his wife Judy, CHSLSC president Michelle Garvan, the CHSLSC committee and patrolling members at the Surf Club on Sunday, November 26 for a Naming Ceremony for the mannequin.
Club North Haven Chairman Gary McLoughlin was given a tour of the Camden Haven SLSC which included its awards for SLS Mid North Coast Branch Club of the Year and SLS NSW Rescue of the Year.
Mr McLoughlin was also shown the equipment room and shown the recently purchased new rescue boards.
During the ceremony Camden Haven SLSC president Michelle Garvan took the chance to thank Mr McLoughlin for his and Club North Haven’s continued support of the Camden Haven SLSC and for their contributions over the last month which add up to over $2000.
Mr McLoughlin and the board of Club North Haven through their support of the Camden Haven acknowledge the invaluable work that the Camden Haven SLSC do at North Haven Beach to keep it safe for the community and its visitors.
After a friendly discussion and some photos with rescue mannequin it was time to get the important part of naming.
Gary McLoughlin took inspiration from the Life Member Honour Role (as well as a hint front Life Member John Vipond) and named the rescue training mannequin ‘Jimmy’ after Camden Haven SLSC Life Member James Eichmann.
