Students Blake Ellis, Jordan Guest, along with mother and daughter Jade Hilton and Anissa Hilton recently travelled to Blackheath to attempt their Black Belt Grading.
The student’s teacher 5th Dan Shihan Peter Becroft said grading is a test of knowledge, spirit and character.
The four students had to demonstrate their knowledge of basics, applications of basics, kata (forms), sparring and self defence over a two day period.
“I am so proud of Blake, Jordan, Jade and Anissa,” said Shihan Peter.
“This is a fantastic achievement for them all and is the result of a lot of hard work, commitment and dedication.”
Student Jordan Guest not only achieved her Black Belt but was also the co-winner of the Ross James Award. The Ross James Award is awarded to the Most Spirited Grader.
Shihan Peter said 10-year-old Blake Ellis showed tremendous character in his achievement and became one of the youngest Goshin Ryu Students to ever achieve their Black Belt.

“Physically martial arts training enhances strength, co-ordination, stamina and flexibility.
“Most importantly, it is fun!”
