Don Kuchel’s light display takes a month to put up each year at his house on Scarborough Way, Dunbogan.
However he said the smiles on people’s faces as they stop to admire the lights each year in December makes all the preparation time worth it.
“They all stop and have a good look,” he said.
“We’ve got some children in the street who get very excited.”
Don and his wife Christine have lived in Dunbogan for three years after moving from Hervey Bay.
The couple have been putting up lights displays each Christmas for the past 15 years.
Don said when they lived in Hervey Bay there was a street which was completely lit up.
“As I result of that I thought why don’t I do it?,” he said.
While some people have difficulty with untangling all the lights each year Don said organisation is the key.
“I check them all before they are put away to go back in their boxes,” he said.
Each year there are 65 different light sets for Don to assemble.
He tries to be as safe as possible when he has to get in high places to put the lights up.
“It can be a bit daunting at times,” he said.
Don said it would be fabulous if one day all the houses on the street were lit up for Christmas.
