Lake Cathie resident Les Doyle wants vegetation cleared to allow for safer crossing

Lake Cathie resident Les Doyle says there is a dangerous blind spot which is a dangerous hazard for pedestrians.

“I’ve witnessed some near misses at this particular spot,” he said.

The location Les is referring to is about 60 metres north of the bridge at Lake Cathie before Evans Street.

Les said vegetation at the area makes it hard to see vehicles as they come round the bend.

“There’s just not enough time between when you see the vehicle to cross the road completely,” he said.

As June is in a wheelchair it takes a bit longer for them to cross the stretch of road.

Les and his wife June enjoy visiting the foreshore at Lake Cathie for swimming and fishing.

This is the undergrowth of the vegetation Les would like to be cleared to allow for greater visibility for pedestrians of vehicles coming round the bend.

A Port Macquarie-Hastings Council spokesperson said staff would continue to monitor vegetation at the site.
