Students from the school and members from the Camden Haven Historical Society combined to collect soil for the Anzac Memorial Centenary Project.
A key aspect of the Anzac Memorial Centenary Project (AMCP) is the soil collection to contribute as a symbolic reflection of the value and importance the Anzac legend holds in the hearts and minds of all Australians.
The centenary project is a $40 million redevelopment of the memorial in Sydney's Hyde Park.
Soil samples are currently being collected from nearly 1700 NSW towns, suburbs and localities that World War I enlistees gave as their place of address.
The enhanced Anzac Memorial in Hyde Park, Sydney is due to open in late 2018.
Camden Haven High School captains Jedd Boyan, Lillibet Skerritt, Thomas Lewis and Paiton Wilkinson collected soil samples at the foot of the Memorial Tree planted for Pte. Robert Laurie in 1916 at Laurie Street, the foot of the Lone Pine in Laurie Park and at the Kew and Kendall War Memorials.
Students were assisted by Camden Haven Historical Society president Phillip Bowman.
