The tour was organised by Busways and driver David Johnson has volunteered his time for the past four years to take residents from Bonny Hills to Lakewood, via Dunbogan to admire Christmas street lights.
Lakeside Aged Care activities officer Donna Clayton said the residents had the most wonderful time on the night.
“They really enjoyed getting out and about to see the lights in the spirit of Christmas,” she said.
Three residents in wheelchairs were also able to get out of the aged care facilities to enjoy the experience.
Donna said staff and residents were appreciated of Busways who donated their time and all fuel costs so that residents can see the lights.
The group stopped by one house on The Boulevarde, Dunbogan which Donna said was absolutely covered in lights.
“You could see it from the other side of the river it was that bright,” she said.
When the bus stopped in Bonny Hills a couple got on the bus to wish residents a very Merry Christmas.
“It’s lovely for residents to have that social interaction with members of our community,” Donna said.
“This couple has been getting on the bus for the last three years.”
