Head Teacher, Catherine Oehlman, is relocating from Sydney to take up the exciting position leading The Nature School’s learning community.
Catherine is well known online and off, and brings a wealth of educational knowledge, expertise and enthusiasm to the school.
She is experienced in primary teaching, curriculum, gifted education and children’s literature.
“The forest schools of Europe have a longstanding reputation for providing children with exceptional education outdoors,” Ms Oehlman said.
“It has been my dream to see such schools established in an Australian context, and I am looking forward to building something unique and truly special at The Nature School Primary.”
Roy Fleissgarten will also be teaching full time.
A Port Macquarie local, Roy loves using nature as the catalyst for learning.
He says he is excited about teaching and learning in collaboration with the children, their families, and the broader community.
The Innes Lake Community Centre on Ruins Way will be leased for the first years of the primary school. Constructed of handmade bricks from local red clay, this special building provides an ideal location for learning both inside and outside.
Together, the Community Centre and The Nature School have been successful in receiving a Building Stronger Communities grant, which will go towards necessary upgrades to the building.
Students already enrolled will have their Orientation Day at the school on Saturday December 16.
With only a few places left for 2018, families considering The Nature School for their child are encouraged to also attend and meet the new teachers at 9am. Please contact the school to register your interest.
