The tradition, over 20 years in the making, is one of joy and happiness and Lake Cathie RFS senior deputy captain John Blackmore said that the whole station loves to get involved.
“The Lolly Run has been going for more than 20 years at Lake Cathie, and in the last few weeks we have had a number of parents and children asking when we were doing it this year, so it is definitely something everyone looks forward to each year,” Mr Blackmore said.
With more than 1000 bags of lollies given out, the operation grows every year.
“Lake Cathie is not the small town it used to be and it takes us the whole afternoon to go down every street handing out lollies.
"But that is all just part of the fun, it is a fantastic day that really marks the countdown until the big man in red arrives,” he said.
