But it doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be more than impressed with a win after his last race was a trial on October 20 where he finished fifth.
It will be his third official race.
“He’s only had a couple of starts and ran one second; he’s nothing real flash and a bit new to the game,” Lang said.
“He’s never raced at Wauchope before, but the grass track should suit him.
“He’s not the strongest dog in the world, so I think the grass track will be better for him than the sand that we normally run on up here.
“We don’t race on grass much anymore and we know they look after it really well at Wauchope; the people that look after the track do a marvellous job.”
Lang is training the two-year-old until owner Charlie Northfield returns from holidays, but he hasn’t set the bar too high.
“[Obviously] a good finish would be a first, but an acceptable finish is anywhere in the placings,” he said.
With nominations not yet out, Lang admitted he didn’t know much about the field.
“The draw doesn’t come out until Friday and then we’ll get a better idea of what we’re up against,” he said.
The Casino trainer will use the Boxing Day event as a chance to tune up before the Wauchope Cup on January 6.
He has already had success with the Butch Monkley Memorial with Weekend Binge.
The Boxing Day race is the start of a racing carnival with races scheduled for December 30 and January 6.
