Port Macquarie’s historic Douglas Vale Homestead and Vineyard will be opening to the public for their annual summer open day on Saturday, January 20, and will feature photos from our local Hastings photography group.

The local icon, is the oldest timber homestead and operating vineyard in the Hastings region, and will be hosting a range of fun activities for young and old from 9 am until 2.30 pm on the day.
Activities will include wine tastings, live entertainment, Devonshire tea, timber sailing ship exhibition, craft and plant stalls, book workshops, a barbecue and tours of the homestead, along with a local photography display by the Hastings Photography group.
According to open day organiser, Kay Morrison, the Hastings Photography group, established in 2011, will hold an exhibition which will give visitors an insight into how experienced photographers teach photography skills to members, incorporating learning about their camera, understanding camera menus and settings and taking photographs in different situations.
During the day, there will be images on display at the exhibition taken by members who have received outstanding awards and are of high quality for open day patrons to enjoy.
The open day also coincides with the official opening of the Voice Over Project, which gives visitors information through motion detecting speakers as they tour the homestead, visiting seven different areas.
