Kate Wood-Foye from Rydges Port Macquarie said the night looks set to be the biggest and best way for families, locals and tourists alike, to ring in the new year.
“This year there will be nothing better than heading to the Town Green foreshore to watch the fireworks as 2018 begins.
“The 9pm fireworks will be put on at the foreshore by the Port Macquarie- Hastings council and then we are taking over the midnight fireworks display,” Ms Wood-Foye said.
This is the second time the Rydges group have helped put on the fireworks display, and Ms Wood-Foye said the best vantage point to see the fireworks will be from Town Green.
“Last year along with the Chamber of Commerce we helped have the fireworks, but after they weren’t in a position to do it again, we, Zebu, Beach House, Rydges Port Macquarie and the Sails Resort put our heads together and with a lot of community support we decided the fireworks must go on.
“We were really passionate about wanting to support the local community after they have supported us, and we wanted to give something back and with so much community interest last year we couldn’t not do it.
“We were really excited that the Chamber trusted us to go ahead with the fireworks so we are presenting the midnight fireworks and hope everyone enjoys them.
“The fireworks will be out on a barge so the best place to see them will be from Town Green, and with all the wonderful businesses around it will be a great night for the whole family.”
Ms Wood-Foye said the same people who did the fireworks for the Countdown to Christmas, will be doing them again and said they will be spectacular.
“It will be a fantastic show which I think will be a great way to ring in the new year surrounded by friends and family in the beautiful Port Macquarie.
“I think you need to have a little bit of a bang to ring in the new year and it is set to be a great night.”
