The incident occurred at 4am on January 1 and resulted in the civilian vehicle catching alight.
A 38-year-old male driver was ejected from the vehicle and was taken to Manning Hospital. He was later transported to Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital.
Two paramedics were injured in the incident, with one taken to Manning Hospital and the other to John Hunter Hospital.
Three people were transported to John Hunter Hospital following a motor vehicle accident on the Pacific Highway, Nabiac on December 30.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter airlifted an 89-year-old woman with an arm injury and a 57-year-old woman with spinal and arm injuries, while a third person was transported by ambulance to Newcastle.
The patients were reported to have been in a stable condition.
