Over 200 people gathered at the Surf Life Saving club at Flynns Beach to eat Armstrong Oysters and to drink Cassegrain wine on the balcony overlooking the beach.
President of the Surf Life Saving Club, Bill Amy said that it was a fabulous day.
“This is the second year we have held this little event but it was hugely successful last year and it was again this year.
“It is a chance for the club to raise some extra funds, but to do so in a fun quirky way.
“This year we have had a few hundred people turn up to relax and the weather is perfect to be at the beach at this time of the year,” Mr Amy said.
Mr Amy who took out the celebrity oyster shuck off said the competition was all about having fun.
“The oyster shucking competition was great but it was just a bit of fun for people to watch,” he said.
Mayor Peta Pinson who was also a part of the celebrity shuck off, said it was a great event that the whole community got behind.
“There is no better fundraising event than when local produce is displayed for locals and visitors alike.
“I am so pleased to be invited to the Flynn Beach fundraiser which is such a great community event,” Cr Pinson said.
Oyster judge Mark Bulley said that it was great so many people turned out to the fundraiser and to cheer on the celebrity shuckers.
“When learning to shuck an oyster, the first 1000 dozen are the hardest but it only gets easier from there.
“The celebrities did pretty good especially those who were doing it for the first time,” Mr Bulley said.
