As part of the Neon Summer exhibition, there are a range of neon themed arts and crafts activities at the Glasshouse this January, with a big day of family fun organised on January 14, and galley curator Niomi Sands, said that people will kick themselves if they miss out.
“We wanted to create a really fun, family friendly, interactive exhibition, and what better way to do that than in bright neon.
“The exhibition explores how contemporary art can inspire the imagination and create a dazzling world through vivid colour, magnificent form and breathtaking fantasy, ” Ms Sands said.
The Family Fun Day on from 10am-3pm, is an opportunity for kids and adults alike to roll up their sleeves and take part in craft activities all with a neon, sparkly theme.
“It is really a weekend of activities culminating with a jumping castle, balloons, face paint and a load of arts and crafts for the kids during the day.
“At the Family Fun Day we will also have artists in residence as part of our Neon Local exhibit, so people can chat, mix and get creative with our four artists who will, and are currently displaying work in the Neon Summer exhibition,” she said.
Ms Sands also said that people can book in to take part in four special craft activities which include lava lamp making, print your own bags, making snow globes and kaleidoscope building.
“The only thing people need to book in ahead of time are the four special activities which are shaping up to be a lot of fun, but otherwise it will be a great day for everyone to be a part of.”
