You can catch the shuttle bus up from the Busways Depot on 21 Hoschke Rd, at 6.45am or 7.20am.
A good Aussie Breakfast of bacon and egg rolls, sausages, tea and coffee will be available to buy from 7.30am.
At 8am, our very own Karen Pini will be our emcee for the ceremonies; the Camden Haven Concert Band will perform an Australia salute, and the Camden Haven Girl Guides will raise the flag.
Mayor Peta Pinson, state MP Mrs Leslie Williams, our Australia Day Ambassador for 2018, Liz Deep Jones, and the school captains from Camden Haven High Scool will all present some words of wisdom.
We will be congratulating the winners of the Australia Day Citizen of the Year and Young Citizen of the Year and welcoming new Australians into our community at a citizenship ceremony.
For the rest of the day, enjoy our beaches, our parks and our waterways, or just relax at home with family and friends, but above all – be safe. If you are outdoors, slip, slop and slap.
Australia Day caps the end of the holiday season. We will be saying goodbye to the last of the visitors – extended family that come and enjoy our paradise every year.
Many have been coming to this area for years and sometimes generations are spanned by long term visitors who brought their children on holidays to this area, and are now grown up and bringing their own children.
For many it is back to work and back to school. My youngest has said goodbye to Laurieton Public School and will be starting a new adventure at Camden Haven High this year.
As council meets through the year, we will be back to planning the future of this community, balancing the need for growth and the demands that it brings with the protection of our natural environment and of our community.
Have a great 2018.
