Port Macquarie head lifeguard James Turnham said conditions had significantly improved and all patrolled beaches have reopened.

“It is great to be able to re open all six of the patrolled beaches in the Hastings, Town, Flynns, Lighthouse, Lake Cathie, Bonny Hills and North Haven beaches all have lifeguards patrolling as the hazardous conditions have dropped,” Mr Turnham said.

“That said, it is important that people only swim at a patrolled beach, to their own abilities and remember to listen to what lifeguards say.”

Mr Turnham says that the beach conditions should only improve throughout the weekend.

“We are expecting the surf conditions to continue to improve over the day and are expecting no weather issues over the weekend.”

Weatherzone meteorologist Kim Westcott, also said the improved weather conditions will prevail through to around Australia Day.

"Today will be a beautiful day with a maximum temperature of 28 degrees," Ms Westcott said.

"It doesn't get much better than that.

"This is about the average temperature for this time of the year, and importantly, the weekend will continue with the beautiful sunshine although Sunday could see some cloud.

"Overall, the weekend will not be too windy but it will be humid by the end of the weekend."

Ms Westcott also said the seas will start to settle down with the low pressure front now shifting away from Australia's east coast, and the Mid North Coast can expect slightly warmer days for the next few days.

"The start of the working week will be warmer and that trend will continue through to about Wednesday or Thursday when we can expect to see a change coming through," Ms Westcott said.

"That change could bring showers and a possible thunderstorm.

"Overnight minimum temperatures will climb as high as 21 degrees - so you had better get the fans ready."
