The medical equipment donation from the volunteer group was for $6100.
Nursing Unit Manager Steve Judd said the gift was greatly appreciated and would make a difference to patients and staff.
The donation provided comfort items for patients recovering from surgery, as well as equipment that will help staff to better care for patients, including a weigh chair and blood pressure monitors.
“The UHA volunteers are an extraordinary group of people,” Mr Judd said.
“They work hard all year to support patients and staff, and we couldn’t be more grateful.”
The group’s president Carol Smith said she hoped the donation would make a stay in hospital more comfortable for patients, in particular those from the Camden Haven.
“We have a wonderful community in the Camden Haven,” she said.
“People support each other and they care for each other.
“Our donation was only possible because some very good people supported the UHA’s fundraisers in Laurieton throughout the year.
“The volunteers get a lot of satisfaction from being able to help patients and staff at the base hospital and at our very own Community Health Centre in Laurie Street, Laurieton.
“Both are wonderful facilities providing an excellent health service to local residents.”
