The work was undertaken on Wednesday, January 24 and was driven by recent damage to the banks after recent storms and two metre high king tides.
A spokesperson from council said geotextile sand filled bags have been used to help stabilise the base of the dune.
He said the bags will only be one or two levels high, so should be covered when sand levels return to normal.
The spokesperson said the work has been done to prevent further damage, with more king tides and storms predicted for the week beginning January 29.
