On February 4, Port Macquarie Animal Welfare Service in collaboration with PETstock Port Macquarie are holding a special pet adoption morning, and president of the Port Macquarie Animal Welfare Service, Leonie Heath said it should be a great day.
“We hold pet adoption drives every month, but this month is a special event as PETstock shops right across the country are getting on board and hosting a simultaneous adoption event,” Mrs Heath said.
“The National Adoption Day is a great opportunity to add to the family knowing you are doing something incredible.”
Mrs Heath also said the Port Macquarie Animal Welfare Service hold adoption days once a month and are always looking for donations.
“We are a non for profit organisation so we are always looking for donations of food and pet supplies to ensure the kittens and dogs in our care are properly looked after,” she said.
“We do not have a shelter so all the animals in our care are taken home by our dedicated careers until they find their forever home.
“When you get a kitten or dog from us they are up to date with their vaccinations, desexed and have undergone a full health assessment, so you can be sure they are healthy.
“All the animals in our care respond so lovingly to those who take the time to love and care for them.”
Owner of PETstock Port Macquarie, Phil Edwards said he thinks being the owner of a rescue pet is one of the best jobs ever.
“I am the owner of two rescue dogs and they are honestly the best things ever, for me there is nothing better than knowing you are giving a forever home to an animal in need,” Mr Edwards said.
“The adoption event we are running on February 4 is part of events happening all over the county and at the event in 2017, nationally, over 500 dogs and cats were re homed.
“As well as outright adoption, we are also looking for people to foster dogs and kittens, so come down and see if we can find you your perfect pet.”
