In last week’s column I talked about how valuable positive relationships between community groups, local industry and all levels of government can be when it comes to kicking goals for our region.
Last week I was fortunate to attend the opening of a new floating pontoon at McInherney Park in Port Macquarie, another great project made possible through collaboration, hardworking volunteers and government partnerships.
The pontoon is designed to allow people with disability to get on the river and enjoy the fun of sailing.
I continue to be blown away by the hard work and dedication of volunteers that make projects like these possible. The team at Sailability should be congratulated for this wonderful achievement.
It’s never easy taking an idea and making it a reality, so I’m very proud to have the opportunity as mayor to work with the community to help achieve great things for the benefit of others and future of our region. Keep up the great work everyone!
New co-working space for entrepreneurs
With more and more people coming to our region – new skills, jobs and infrastructure will be needed to continue to push our region forward.
This week council opened a pop-up business and co-working space in Port Macquarie to support our local business community
Called The Hub, this space will be much more than a ‘desk for hire’ venue, but set up to support local start-up businesses where budding entrepreneurs can come to work, share ideas and be connected with other like-minded business owners.
The space is perfect for people who wish to connect with others, or simply want to move out of their home office but are not yet ready to lease an office space.
This is an exciting initiative and I encourage small business owners, freelancers or entrepreneurs looking to getting involved to visit pmhc.nsw.gov.au/thehub.
