I would like to say I am a huge animal and dog lover, however in the last few weeks I have visited two very popular cafes within Laurieton and Dunbogan.

In the first instance a woman was having coffee accompanied by four medium to large size dogs albeit on leads at the time.
In the second instance the second café or coffee spot I encountered a very large intrusive dog accompanied by its owners (no lead or restraint evident) at an extremely busy time (weekend) where many families with young children and another small dog was present.
This situation as was the first occasion, was very intimidating as the dogs were restless and needed to be continually asked by their owner(s) to sit.
Today on South Beach as we walked with our dog as did many others, we were confronted by a large horse and its rider traversing the pedestrian walkway.
This again was intimidating not to mention potentially dangerous and unpleasant when confronted by the horses’ excrement left on the track.
Could commonsense prevail in the community to either ensure your dogs are restrained and in check or left at home while one enjoys a coffee and such outings?
Have some consideration for others trying to enjoy their outing.
Also I don't believe horses belong on South Beach as this is potentially hazardous to pedestrians walking the track and beach.
We have signs for snakes and surf conditions perhaps we require more signage at the beach and cafes for animal owners.
Kind regards,
Dale Allen, Dunbogan
