Lori Ryan ran the workshop on February 14 and said doing mosaic work is very relaxing and a form of therapy.
Lori and members of the group sourced crockery from Camden Haven op shops which were then broken up into pieces to put together the artwork.
“It’s great that the material we sourced is being recycled for this use,” she said.
Lori said mosaics can be challenging to piece together as it makes people think about different colours, texture and random sizes.
The Kendall Tactile Arts Group formed in January 2017 and is currently seeking donations and fundraising to ensure their facility at the Kendall Showground has power, running water and equipment.
Recently the group received $4500 grant from the Country Arts Support Program (CASP) to support workshops in 2018.
The aim of the Country Arts Support Program is to support community arts and cultural development in regional NSW.
Tactile Arts Group member Karen Brown said there will be a hebel sculpture workshop in March and other sessions on concrete stepping stones, hypertufa pots and craft using recyclable material.
Karen said once the shed has running water and power, the group plans to set it up as a pottery studio.
“We’ve got three pottery wheels already,” she said.
“One was given to us by an anonymous donor.”
The Tactile Arts Group at Kendall has a market stall every month at the Kendall Markets where the work of members is showcased.
Karen thanked the Camden Haven P A H & I Society for its support in helping the group secure the shed facility.
The group has a movie night fundraiser on February 22. People are invited to watch the comedy Finding your Feet. Drinks and nibbles will be at 6pm and the movie starts at 6.30pm. The cost is $20 per person. To book call Ana 0403896248 or Karen 65597534.
