“Council has commenced the underwater inspection of Dunbogan Bridge as part of the $3 million bridge rehabilitation project, which is jointly funded by the Federal Government and Port Macquarie-Hastings Council under the Bridges Renewal Programme,” she said.
Information gained from this inspection and other investigations planned in the coming months, Ms Fisher said will be used to inform a detailed design for the bridge’s rehabilitation.
Ms Fisher said the upgrades will significantly improve long term road safety ensuring continued access for heavy vehicles into the Dunbogan area.
“It will include repairing and potentially strengthening all pier sets on the bridge,” she said.
