In the March 28, 2012 edition of the Camden Haven Courier edition it was reported the Global Food Garden project at the Kendall Community Centre had officially opened.
Volunteers, donors and supporters were on hand to hear garden coordinator and creator Tin Hta Nu tell the story of the project.
Tin said the project began as a way for the Meeting Place Cafe to reduce the cost of food served, with a vegetable garden to produce salad items and Asian ingredients for the menu. Then the project grew to incorporate native bush tucker, fruit trees from around the worlds and herbs and spices.
The garden project is supported by many volunteers who have donated plants and worked on constructing garden beds and fencing.
The Kendall Community Op Shop provided the financial injection which saw the project take off.
