A barefoot bowls fundraiser at The Westport Club on Saturday will help send a group of Birpai/Werin Elders to annual Elders Olympics.

The fundraiser gets underway from around noon.

All money raised on the day supports the region's representatives players to compete at the Aboriginal Elders Olympics scheduled for Inverell on April 11 to 13.

The $15 cost for the day includes lunch and bowls hire.

The Birpai/Werin Elders' team will travel to Inverell to compete in a range of sporting activities. These include, quoits, shooting hoops, throwing, pass the football, hockey and ball relay, walking relay and egg and baton.

All competitors in the Elders Olympics must be aged over 50 years.

The winning team at the Elders Olympics is responsible for hosting the following year’s event.

To register, contact Werin Aboriginal Corporation on 6589 4000 or Reta Latimore 0498 179 942.

The barefoot bowls fundraiser is sponsored by The Westport Club.
