In his second year as President of Camden Haven Eagles Juniors, Jarryd Gaskin shares his passion for the club.
“I would like to welcome everyone to the Mighty Camden Haven Eagles Juniors club and thank you for coming to play. I love the Mighty Eagles and watching the kids play and develop into good footy players.
“It has been a hard couple of years rebuilding the club back to its glory days. When I took over as president at the end of the 2016 season the club only had five teams. I knew something had to change.
“So I went out and learnt the history, pride and passion of the Eagles by talking to old players and committee members to see what needed to be changed.
“It was a good season in 2017 and the community could see the changes and a lot of players came back to the club. We had eight teams and this year we have 12.
“We had a whole new team come over from soccer, a lot of those kids never played footy before. They were against the odds to win. Well coached by Kane Faddy and Matt Model, they improved game by game and made it into the tier 2 Grand Final and won the premiership. Well done guys, it topped off a great year for the Eagles.
“At the AGM at the end of the season, I asked a lot of parents to step up and help out and make this club bigger and better. Now we have a fantastic new committee for the 2018 season. Thank you all for coming on board. You guys are fantastic. I can't say enough to say thank you for all your hard work.
“It has been a big off-season. First of all, straight off the bat, getting a girl comp going in November and chasing players to play. I would like to thank Shannen, Carena, Mick and Glen for getting two girls teams up and running at short notice.
“They managed to get an under 14's and open a woman's team. I would like to thank the coaches, Shannen Mathews and Mick Eggins who coached the U14s and Glen Bampton for coaching the open women's team.
“Well done to the girls that made the rep side and to Glen for getting the honours in coaching the first Hastings league woman's rep team. Well done Glen.
“I would like to thank everyone that sees my passion for the game and the club and are by my side to make the club succeed again.
“All the coaches, trainers and sports trainers for helping coach the kids, well done guys, a big thank you.”
