A spokesperson said the first stage of major infrastructure upgrades have begun, starting with improved drainage to the cattle yards.
Further development will include new cattle yard fencing and holding areas, sheep yards, a new pig pen and enclosure, as well as revamped chicken coops and additional garden beds.
The school’s principal Margaret Hutchinson said the infrastructure improvements, combined with other strategies, will be in line with industry standards and make the ag plot among the best in the state.
“This will facilitate the delivery of agriculture to the students and enable them to showcase their work to the community,” she said.
A spokesperson from the school said there are still some animals onsite; however some have been moved off to enable the upgrade and some have been sold as is the normal operation of the ag plot.
Agriculture teacher Steve Shilling said the soil excavations in the cattle yard has produced 35 cubic metres of soil very rich in nutrients, which will be utilised in students’ gardens.
The spokesperson said the renovations are expected to be complete by the end of April and the delivery of the core curriculum has not been affected in the meantime.
