The bags have come full circle, after the op shop originally donated the material for the bags to be made.
The Boomerang Bags initiative has been set up in the Camden Haven by Peter Nash.
The group has regular working bees and recently celebrated a milestone with 200 bags made to be distributed in the Camden Haven community.
Each bag is handmade by volunteers from the community using the donated, second hand material to keep the initiative local and sustainable.
Mr Nash said bags can also be made at home, at school or at a workplace.
Mr Nash thanked the Anglican Op Shop for donating a sewing machine, overlocker and an iron to the Camden Haven group.
The Boomerang Bags Camden Haven has regular working bees at I Love Country Craft Room on Seymour Street, Laurieton,
Mr Nash said everyone is welcome to join the cutting, ironing, pinning and sewing of the bags.
No experience is required. People can bring their sewing machine or overlocker to the sessions if available.
