In the March 31, 2010 edition of the Camden Haven Courier edition the headline on the front page read ‘Teens come up trumps’.
Grace Ballinger, Samantha Anquetil and Lisa Schouten gave up their stylish looks to help support the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave for a Cure.
“I was sitting in class when Grace turned to me and says ‘I’m doing shave for a cure, will you do it with me...please?’”, said Samantha, 14.
“I wasn’t going to do it at first, I mean just the mere thought of me bald was enough to shudder. But then I thought of my Nana and it gave me the strength to click that registration button.”
Samantha’s grandmother lost her battle with cancer in February, 2010.
The girls thanked the support of the community for its fundraising effort and the talents of hairdresser Joy Hughes who performed the honours on March 13, 2010.
