This is the third of a total of five planned closures required as part of the project, and will allow for further asphalting works to take place.

The closure will be between 6am on Monday March 26 and 6pm on Thursday March 29.

A detour will be in place during the closure, with traffic travelling east on the Oxley Hwy advised to access Lake Road via Fernhill Road.

The west bound lane on Lake Road will remain open under changed traffic conditions.

“Work to improve traffic flow and safety is continuing as per our schedule, and we are looking forward to seeing congestion on this busy stretch of road ease upon completion,” council director Alex Fisher said.

“During the previous closure’s our community did a great job in managing their travel by allowing extra time and following directional signage, and once again we are encouraging motorists to seek an alternate route.

“As with any road works occurring on a busy road, delays will occur and we ask the community to exercise patience and understanding,” Ms Fisher said.

The $2.4 million project will see the duplication of approximately 300m of Lake Road between Toorak Circuit and the Oxley Highway.

The work includes road widening to 4 lanes, kerb and guttering, improved pedestrian access, signage and line-marking, and an upgrade to telecommunications, lighting and stormwater.
